Mariaville, Maine

We really love our log cabin built on Graham Lake.

In 2021 we sold our Condo in Lowell, MA and moved full time to our log cabin in Mariaville, ME

Graham Lake, a man-made lake was created when the Union River was dammed in 1908. The dam also split Mariaville into two halves, creating an interesting town management problem.

Mariaville was incorporated in 1836 and was named for Maria Matilda, daughter of landholder William Bingham. The population was 513 at the 2010 census. For the first time Mariaville has exceeded the pre civil war population of 458 from the 1860 census! Despite all this “build up and gentrification”, there are no retail stores in Mariaville, and very few businesses located there.

We like the quiet, the scenery and the wildlife.

Despite all this, and the fact that our cabin is a mile down a dirt road, we have high speed internet at the cabin and can work normally from there.
